Koi ummeed bar nahin aati
Koi soorat nazar nahin aati
कोई उम्मीद बर नहीं आती
कोई सूरत नज़र नहीं आती
دل ہی تو ہے نہ سنگ و خشت درد سے بھر نہ آئے کیوں
روئیں گے ہم ہزار بار کوئی ہمیں ستائے کیوں
Dil hi to hai na sang-o-khisht dard se bhar na aaye kyun
Royenge hum hazaar baar koi hamein sataaye kyun
दिल ही तो है न संग-ओ-ख़िश्त दर्द से भर न आए क्यूँ
रोएँगे हम हज़ार बार कोई हमें सताए क्यूँ
ہم نے مانا کہ تغافل نہ کرو گے لیکن
خاک ہو جائیں گے ہم تم کو خبر ہونے تک
Hum ne maana ke taghaaful na karoge lekin
Khaak ho jaayenge hum tum ko khabar hone tak
हम ने माना कि तग़ाफ़ुल न करोगे लेकिन
ख़ाक हो जाएँगे हम तुम को ख़बर होने तक
یہ نہ تھی ہماری قسمت کہ وصالِ یار ہوتا
اگر اور جیتے رہتے یہی انتظار ہوتا
Ye na thi hamaari qismat ke visaal-e-yaar hota
Agar aur jeete rehte yahi intezaar hota
ये न थी हमारी क़िस्मत कि विसाल-ए-यार होता
अगर और जीते रहते यही इंतिज़ार होता
